What’s on in London in August 2016

Summertime is on its way out so it’s time to make the best out of the great outdoors before it’s too cold. With lots of events going on in and around London throughout the year it can be hard to pick out a couple of the top one’s that you should go and visit. This is where we step in to give you a hand!

Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House

Film4 are running their spectacular film festival once again at Somerset House in London. A line up of some of the best motion pictures ever created ranging from crime thrillers to romantic musicals, will be displayed on a cinema screen which is boasted to be London’s largest. As well as watching the movie there will a number of Behind The Screen talks where cinema industry members in the know will share their knowledge about fashion in films and the new technology of A.I. There is also a robot workshop on site and also a selection of new short films made in Britain will be shown prior to the main screening. Notting Hill Carnival

One of London’s most anticipated events in August is the Notting Hill Carnival. This event will be taking place over the August bank holiday weekend starting at 9am on Sunday and Monday and the celebrations running up till around 7pm. Notting Hill carnival originated in 1966 and has grown every year since then, now it is estimated that around 1 million people attend the event over the two days making it one of the world’s largest street festivals. It is a truly eye catching event, the most extravagant Caribbean styled show girl costumes being brought to life by incredibly talented dancers and performers.
